Bamboo and its transformation(Shree Krishna's Flute Symbolism)

This is the story of Bamboo and his transformation.
Krishna’s flute is always with him, twenty-four hours a day. Even when he sleeps, he never parts with it. One day, a Leela unfolded in Braj. The Gopis, filled with curiosity and a hint of jealousy, spoke to the flute.
“Krishna is our Lord, yet we only get to spend a little time with him. But you—he wakes up with you, he sleeps with you, and you are always by his side,” they said mockingly.
Intrigued, they asked the flute, “Tell us your secret. What makes the Lord treasure you so much?”
The flute then began to share its story.
Once, Krishna was walking through the gardens of Vrindavan. The plants swayed joyfully, flowers bloomed in vibrant colors, and birds chirped melodious songs. Amidst this beauty, a dry bamboo tree stood quietly, looking forlorn. Krishna noticed its sorrow and approached it.
“Why are you sad?” Krishna asked.
The bamboo tree replied, “I don’t bear sweet fruits or green leaves. Birds don’t sit on me or sing songs. I feel worthless.”
Hearing this, Krishna smiled and said, “I have a solution for you, but it is not an easy one.”
The bamboo hesitated for a moment and then said, “Tell me. If I can, I will give what is needed.”
Krishna then said, “First, I must cut you.”
The bamboo shivered and asked, “Don’t you have any other way?Aren't there choices?”
Krishna replied, “No, there is no other way.”
After a moment of deep thought, the bamboo surrendered and said, “Okay, Krishna, I trust you. I surrender to you.”
Krishna then cut the bamboo, carving holes into it. The bamboo cried out in pain, for the process was excruciating. But in enduring this suffering, the bamboo was transformed—it became a beautiful flute.
From that day on, Krishna and his flute became inseparable.
The flute then said, “The first secret is that I surrendered completely to Krishna. The second secret is that I remain empty inside. I have nothing of my own—even the mesmerizing melodies that come from me are the breath of Krishna.”
The sweet melodies of Krishna’s magical flute enchanted the people of Vrindavan and beyond. Even the plants and animals swayed in joy to its divine tunes. People called his flute Murali, and his beloved Krishna, Muralidhar.
The moral of this story is power of surrender. At the beginning, it may be hard, just like the bamboo on the path of surrender. You might have to wake up early, work out on Sukshma Vyayama, sit in meditation doing Roopdhyan, listening to lectures/kirtans, journal your thoughts, and constantly remember Him. But in the process of surrender, persistence and consistency are key. Once you continue this process, by the grace of Krishna, you will surely become like his flute one day.
Trust in Him completely. Have faith, knowing that you are always in His hands. What can ever go wrong? Nothing. Whether He breaks us or makes us, His grace is with us at all times.
